Who we are. THE MELT SOCIETY is the trading name of Jack Blake, a sole trader, who is the data controller for the information below. Postal address: Ringwood, Hampshire BH24 1EL, United Kingdom. Email: [email protected].
What we collect. This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking, and our fonts are hosted on our own site, so no third-party font service sees your visit. Our host (Cloudflare) processes basic technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. If you email us, we receive your name, email address, school and anything you include.
Why, and our lawful basis. To reply to you, send samples, quote, and supply and invoice licences. Our lawful bases are taking steps towards or performing a contract, and our legitimate interest in running our business and answering enquiries. We keep invoices and licence records because the law requires it.
Emails to schools (business-to-business). We sometimes email teachers and departments at their published school work address to tell them about our resources. We find these addresses on schools' own public websites, and we keep only the school name and reference number, the work email address, the person's name and role if published, where and when we found it, and whether they replied. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): telling school staff, in their professional role, about teaching resources relevant to their work. We have assessed this and decided it does not override your rights, because the emails are few, about your job only, and easy to stop. We never email personal addresses or private tutors without consent.
Stopping our emails (opt-out). Every email we send tells you how to stop further emails. Reply "no thanks", or email [email protected], and we will stop straight away and add your address to a suppression list so you are not contacted again. You can object to this use of your data at any time, free of charge. If you do not reply, we delete your details 12 months after our last contact.
Who we share it with. Only our service providers: Google (email), SMTP2GO (sending our email) and Cloudflare (website hosting and email routing). They may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it. Enquiries that don't lead to a purchase: up to 2 years. Customer and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to.
Your rights. You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or to stop marketing emails at any time. Email us at the address above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
